What you may do with the finished book

The basic licence covers personal use. The commercial licence lets you sell the publication as your own product, hand it out as a lead magnet, and use it in courses and client materials.

Two licences, one decision at checkout

By default you buy a copy for your own use: you may read it, print it and use it inside your organisation. That does not include reselling it, giving it away in exchange for an email address, or bundling it into a paid course. Those three things are what the commercial licence is for, added at checkout as a separate line. We separate them because most orders are internal material, and charging everyone for rights they will not use would simply cost more.

Resale

You may sell the publication as your own digital product, in your own shop or on a platform. Without the commercial licence, you may not.

Lead magnet

Giving it away for an email address is marketing use and requires the commercial licence, even though the file is free for the recipient.

Courses and client materials

Notes for a paid course, an attachment to a service, material handed over at a meeting — all of that is commercial use.

In practice

You answer to your own readers for the content

The licence says what you may do with the file. It does not transfer to us your responsibility, towards the people you give it to, for what is inside it. The content is produced by machine and needs checking before publication — particularly on legal, tax and medical subjects. We say the same on the colophon page of every file.

Why it works this way

The licence cannot be added automatically afterwards

You select it before payment, because it appears on the invoice and on the colophon inside the file. If you realise later, write to us with your order number — we extend the licence by hand and reissue the file with a corrected colophon. It is not a problem, just a step that is missing from the panel.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the title and credit myself as the author?

Yes, the commercial licence lets you publish it as your own product. Being honest with the reader about the content's machine origin remains your decision and your responsibility — we mark it on the colophon of the version you receive.

Is the licence perpetual?

Yes. You buy it once, for a specific publication, and it does not expire. We take no per-copy fee and no share of revenue.

Could two people get an identical book and both sell it?

Content is produced separately for each order from a separate subject and outline, so identical books effectively do not occur. We do not, however, grant exclusivity on a subject — someone else may order a publication about the same thing.
